What are ways I can boost my self confidence without becoming overconfident?

By Guest Author On March 7, 2011 Under Self Improvement

I have been told I lack self-confidence by several people whether they know me or not? I myself don’t see that my self-confidence is low but, I can’t help but think my confidence is directly proportional to my performance. If I perform well on a task, I will naturally feel more confident. If I don’t then, I will feel less confident. My confidence occurs after I have performed my tasks as opposed to before. Lately I haven’t been as successful on tasks which is causing massive erosion of my confidence.

don’t pin your confidence on the performance outcome, pin it on how much effort you put in. for example, if you tried your hardest and still failed, you should be proud anyway. but if you won without any effort, and it just came naturally, you should not be proud at all.

Maybe you just appear to be an introverted person. The best way to gain confidence is more socialization. Meeting new people and expanding your network. Go outside your box. Don’t just meet people who are similar to you, but meet people even if they are different.

Bake or cook something really good! That is what I do! Once I taste what I made, I feel good that I made something so good and delicious!

You should try practicing on more realistically achievable tasks, specially after failing larger one. If the problem is people’s perception, then I agree with the person before me who wrote that it may be your social skills. If that’s the case, create small goal oriented tasks for yourself that cover that area. The result would be the creation of a more confident image as well as real confidence withing yourself.
